Currently, based on my estimated total costs for the first month, the total cost for January 2025 would be about $150 total.
As I am not sure if anyone would continue to use the non-FWA side of CC, I would like to ask for leagues who intend to continue to use this instance of CC to at least show their intent by contributing financially to the cost of hosting the site. I might add other requirements in the future after things settle, such as a code of conduct, but of course, in line with kuilin's wishes, they will be fair and not favor FWA.
Funding-wise, I believe that splitting the hosting costs evenly between the 2 sides of CC would be the most reasonable and fair approach. For this month, January 2025, FWA is already contributing the full amount. To warrant me keeping this side avaliable past this month, I would first need $75 from donators representing this side of CC to cover half of the first month's fee. And going foward, I would also expect a minimum monthly donation for me to continue hosting this side of CC. Please reach out to me (Justin) for more information in regards to this, but only if you're serious.
Due to security reasons stemming from the move to a new host, all logins have been reset, and everyone will need to register their accounts again. I have been approving accounts manually as they get re-registered. Since I'm not sure non-FWA leagues are interested at all, I think it is fair to wait for funding to be secured before I approve and authorize logins for the non-FWA side of the split.
I also ran this plan past kuilin, who gave me approval that this sounds fair. Kui also wanted me to add that all of the funding we organize here is to pay for hosting, which is completely separate from licensing. All of the money I collect will eventually go to the cloud service provider that runs the servers. None of it goes to kui, or pays for our ability to use kui's code. Instead, that is covered by the license agreement, which is a separate agreement between kuilin and an anonymous benefactor that I'm just named in.
